This policy explains what HeyGyan collects, why, and the choices you have. HeyGyan is a brand of , the data fiduciary responsible for your data under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and its Rules.
What we collect
- Practice data: the questions you attempt, answers, scores, time taken and mistake tags. Without an account this stays in your own browser.
- Account data (only if you create an account): email address, name, exam, exam year, class, state, preferred language, and your contact choices.
- Parent or guardian details: for students under 18, the parent's name and contact, and their consent.
- Forms you send: red flags, feedback, scholarship applications and waitlist emails.
- Usage analytics: pages visited and actions such as starting a test, through Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity, without your name or contact details.
Why we use it
- To run your practice tests, save your progress and avoid repeating questions.
- To review scholarship applications and fix reported errors.
- To send exam updates and reminders, only if you switch them on.
- To send news about new tests and offers, only if you switch it on (and, if you are under 18, your parent has agreed).
- To understand which pages help students, so we can improve them.
Students under 18
We ask for a parent or guardian's consent before creating an account for anyone under 18. We do not track children for advertising, and we do not show targeted advertising to children.
Where your data is kept
Account data is stored with our database provider (Supabase). Analytics data is processed by Google and Microsoft. We do not sell your personal data.
How long we keep it
We keep account data while your account is active. If you ask us to delete your account, we delete your personal data within 30 days, except where the law requires us to keep a record.
Your rights
- See the data we hold about you, and correct it.
- Withdraw consent and switch off any messages at any time from your account page.
- Ask us to delete your account and data (from your account page, or by contacting us).
- Complain to our grievance officer, and if not resolved, to the Data Protection Board of India.

Cookies and browser storage
HeyGyan stores your practice progress in your browser so it works without an account. Analytics tools may set their own cookies. You can clear these any time from your browser settings.
